I was born with a disability — not by choice, but by circumstance. What was a choice, however, was how I responded to a world that wasn’t built with me in mind.
From a young age, life taught me how to adapt. I attended eight different schools, constantly learning how to navigate new environments, new expectations, and the quiet feeling of not quite fitting in. Those early experiences were challenging, but they forged something powerful in me: resilience, adaptability, and an instinct to keep moving forward even when the path wasn’t clear.
Sport became my anchor.
At nine years old, I joined the Wheelchair Sports Club, and for the first time, I felt a deep sense of belonging. I wasn’t being accommodated — I was being included. I was surrounded by people who understood the physical and emotional realities of disability, and within that space, I discovered strength, confidence, and freedom. Sport didn’t just shape my body; it shaped my identity.
That journey led me to the Paralympics and, years later, to para ice hockey — a sport that reignited my competitive fire. On the ice, I am not defined by limitations. I am defined by speed, strategy, teamwork, and determination. Para ice hockey reminds me every day that disability does not diminish ambition — it sharpens it.
But my life has never been just about sport.
As an adult, I recognised that many of the barriers I faced weren’t about my body — they were about systems, access, and a lack of lived understanding. That realisation led me to create Wheelie Essential, a business born directly from my own experiences. I saw a gap in assistive technology and disability travel — products and services that were functional, empowering, and designed with disabled people, not just for them. Wheelie Essential exists to turn everyday obstacles into opportunities for independence, confidence, and freedom.
Travel has become a powerful extension of that mission. As a disability travel advocate, I work to show that accessible travel is not a luxury — it’s a right. Through lived experience, education, and visibility, I help reshape how the travel industry understands disability, while encouraging others with disabilities to explore the world with confidence and curiosity.
More recently, I’ve stepped into disability modelling — not as a departure from my story, but as a continuation of it.
Modelling allows me to challenge outdated narratives around beauty, strength, and representation. I don’t model despite my disability; I model with it. My body carries a lifetime of experience, resilience, and truth, and I believe visibility matters. When people see real bodies represented honestly, it creates confidence, belonging, and change — not just in campaigns, but in culture.
Today, I balance life as a Paralympian, entrepreneur, disability travel advocate, model, and speaker. Every role I take on is connected by the same purpose: to redefine what’s possible, and to create spaces where disability is not hidden, softened, or apologised for — but recognised as powerful.
My journey hasn’t been linear or easy, but every challenge has brought clarity. Whether I’m on the ice, on a plane, in front of a camera, or building products and programs that empower others, my belief remains the same:
Disability does not limit potential.
It reveals it.
And the best chapters are still ahead.
